New meeting place to be established at the former Veterinary College
The corner property by the recreational area, Idioten, will become Adamstuen's new meeting place. A fantastic hub with a large roof terrace and an idyllic outdoor seating. The management promise exciting concepts that will create a vibrant atmosphere for all ages.
5. February 2024- We want this area to become the heart of the neighborhood. The buildings here are surrounded by greenery, and we want to open it up and create a new garden perfect for socializing. This will be the first of several meeting places we will create here. We emphasize that this will be inclusive and diverse places. The goal is for this new urban area to become a well-known destination with a strong local identity, says Nina Sillibakken, Property Manager at Linstow.
Linstow acquired a share of the former Veterinary College in 2022, and is collaborating with Oslobygg on a common, comprehensive zoning plan for the in total approximately 70-acre site. The property, which was previously closed off to the public, has been opened and is now being filled with life.
Social meeting place for neighbors of all ages
The people behind the new place have long experience. Nicolai Aanonsen Engesvik, Henrik Olsson, Aleksander Engesvik, Mikael Jonsson and Ståle Fremstad have been involved in opening places such as Prindsen Hage, Sukkerbiten, Folk and Thorvalds. In addition, they are co-owners of Grefsenkollen and Over Oslo.
- We want to create a meeting place for neighbors of all ages. It should be just as natural to bring your stroller for morning coffee, as to have a bite to eat and a glass of wine with friends in the evening. We aim for generous opening hours, a rich wine list and a selection of signature cocktails, says Mikael Jonsson, who is a baker and has previous been running several neighborhood cafes. He promises delicious sandwiches during the day and a creative kitchen with delicious snacks in the afternoon and evening.
A total of 150 square meters inside, an equally large roof terrace and a generous outdoor terrace, will provide plenty of space for the visitors. It will be created a new entrance from General Birchs street to the backyard, facilitating easy access and integration with the surrounding area.
- What attracted us was Linstow's ambitions for the buildings and the area as a whole - and to possibility to be part of this process right from the start. We hope that an exciting concept, in combination with the central location, and a completely unique outdoor area, will make us an attractive meeting place for residents in the area – as well as those from other parts of the city, says Nicolai Aanonsen.
They aim at an opening in May this year. The building, that is on the city antiquarian's yellow list will be treated with respect, and the renovations that take place will have a high degree of reuse.
