Buing the last part of the Veterinary College property at Adamstuen in Oslo

Last year, the City of Oslo bought three-quarters of the property, due to the relocation of the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science and the Veterinary Institute to the Norwegian University of Life Sciences at Ås. Linstow has now purchased the remaining area, a property of just over 15 acres with a building stock of over 30,000 square meters. The property has been purchased for 1.36 billion NOK and is our biggest acquisition in a long time.

Development plans for the property have not yet been finalised, but Linstow CEO Per Mortensen says the company will focus on creating an open and accessible place of great value for the local community and Oslo’s population. Exciting restaurants, a grocery store, an art and cultural arena, fitness facilities and family activities are some of the things he envisages. It is no secret that the area lacks sufficient meeting places and exciting offers for the public. This will naturally get considerable attention in the development work. In addition, we will bring health-promoting perspectives, as well as sustainable solutions, into the development process. We are committed to creating appealing places where people enjoy living, working, and meeting others. The same will be the case for Adamstuen.

The property purchase is a rare opportunity to create something new and exciting in the central parts of Oslo, while at the same time adding sought-after qualities to an already existing local environment. Furthermore, it will be important for Linstow to engage the public and seek good participation processes along the way, good cooperation with the neighbours, and not least with the City of Oslo, which owns the neighbouring property.

The work with development details and zoning plans for the property will soon be in progress. However, it will take several years for the area to be fully developed. Therefore, we see it as essential to start the planning and transformation of the area as quickly as possible, so that it can be put to use up until the end of regulation. In this work, Linstow will particularly facilitate for partners who can activate the area with activities engaging the public, such as trough trade, dining, art and culture. We want input and suggestions from the local community. The entire vacated area at Adamstuen comprises approximately 65 acres of land and 59,000 square meters of building stock. 50 acres of the property were sold to the City of Oslo in 2021. The property included in the transaction between Statsbygg and Linstow AS comprises 15.4 acres and a total of 30,500 square meters of buildings. Date of acquisition of the property is in the fall of 2022.
