Homansbyen Family Counselling Office Moves to the Former Veterinary College
The Homansbyen Family Counselling Office, part of the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufetat), is moving to the Former Veterinary College at Adamstuen.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Family Counselling Office and Bufetat. They have an important role in society and will bring valuable activity to the area. The process with Bufetat and Statsbygg has been very positive. The premises are being specially adapted to meet the needs of both users and employees, and together with Meinich Architects we have found good solutions with a strong focus on reuse. We are now looking forward to seeing the finished result,” says Nina Sillibakken, Head of Leasing at Linstow.
The Family Counselling Office will become part of the historic surroundings at Adamstuen, with easy access to public transport, the city centre and local amenities.
“We are counting the days until we move to the Former Veterinary College. The area is easily accessible, and the pleasant, green surroundings mean a great deal to families who may feel nervous or be going through a difficult time when they come to see us. We believe the urban garden in particular will be a welcoming place both before and after appointments. Together with Linstow, we are now creating high-quality, tailored premises for both clients and employees,” says Gøril Westborg Smiseth, Head of the Homansbyen Family Counselling Office.
Towards 2040, the Former Veterinary College will be transformed into a mixed-use neighbourhood with public services, new homes, workplaces and amenities, creating a new heart for the local community. A place for everyone who will live and work here, use the area in their everyday lives, and come to visit.
“For us, this development is about more than refurbishing buildings. We want to create a place where people enjoy spending time and meeting others. Close collaboration with our tenants, reuse and health-promoting placemaking are therefore important principles as we continue to develop the area. There is now limited space still available, but we do have some attractive premises remaining,” says Sillibakken.
Bufetat will lease approximately 1,000 square metres, with the move-in scheduled for 1 December 2026.
